1) Polly and Liv are both American. What do you think it means to them to be in Cambridge?
2) All the people who know him say that Nick isn't the kind of person who would leave. What kind of person do you think Nick is?
3) Gretchen was angry at her mother for giving her up. Then she becomes grateful to her for keeping her as long as she did. What do you think causes this shift in her point of view?
4) Richard believes that Morris started hating him even before he married the first Alice, and he doesn't know why. Do you think Morris hates him? If yes, why?
5) Polly wonders if the murderer's actions were inevitable, something carried inside them, or if some small change, such as being at Oxford, might have set them on another course entirely. What do you think?
